Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this manuscript, Sahoo and co-authors introduced time-crystal synthons to integrate catalytic reaction cycles in developing a reaction pathway. The multistep flow synthesis could continue with connecting the time crystals by time crystal synthons. These results will be interesting discoveries and encourage further research on the topic of time-crystal synthons. However, there still are some improvements for this article. Therefore, minor revisions have to be done before this article could be accepted for publication. The following are our specific comments in the article:

1.    The abstract is so redundant that it makes for a confusing read. The content of the abstract should be further refined, which for readers to understand better.

2.     As mentioned in the abstract, this time crystal synthon-driven multistep approach could be used for microwave and photocatalysis, we would be interested that how to arrange the photoreaction device so that each step of the catalytic cycle can be proceeded normally.

3.     Examples of the advantages of time crystal synthons should be added in the form of diagrams (Page 8), which for readers more intuitive to comprehend.

4.     Although most reaction solvents have good fluidity, it is not excluded that the reaction liquid gradually becomes viscous during the reaction process. Whether it is ideal to rely on gravity to drive the multi-step reaction.

5.     There are many descriptions about the construction of time crystal synthons in this paper. It is suggested to add the part of how to use it after the construction.

6.     It will be better that detail the reaction conditions in the caption of Scheme 4.

7.     Please note that some incorrectly formatted details in the article. For instance, “Scheme 1C” should be corrected as “Scheme 1c” (Page 2, Line 79). Punctuation at the end of a sentence is repetitive (Page 8, Line 255). Please check carefully and correct all in the next revision.

8.    Please note the format errors in the references. For example, some references have DOI or link address, like reference 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 19, 20, 25, 26, 41, while others not. Besides, the publication year of several references are not bold, such as reference 11,17. Please check and unify them.
