Analysis of Growth and Yield of Three Types Cucumbers (Cucumis sativus L.) Based on Yield Components
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The present study evaluated cucumber yield of different types and its correlation with some components. Some differences between types and correlations between yield and yield components were found.
Minor comments:
Materials and Methods:
Line 71. Please indicate how many days after sowing the cell trays were transferred to a chamber. Indicate the chamber type and manufacturer, as well as the light intensity (PPFD) in the chamber;
Line 94. According to FW and DW, indicate what LAI means;
Line 124. How outdoor solar radiation was measured? How often?
Results:
Fig. 1 -3. Please, use ‘September’ and so on instead of ‘9/15’;
Lines 141-148. It seems better to put means values for Beit Alpha, Greenhouse, 142 and Japanese cultivars in the Table 1 and did not repeat them in the text;
Fig. 3 is not well done and is not clear for the readers;
In the Fig. 4 use ‘k’ instead of ‘-ln(I/I0)’. In the MaM indicate that k=-ln(I/I0).
Discussion
The max cucumber yield of 14.9 kg/m2 was found in this study. Please, discuss what can be the reason for the high yield of cucumbers (72.8 kg / m2) in the Netherlands.
