Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Cardiorespiratory medicine in small animals is an exciting topic. In the last decades, technological advances have allowed advances in diagnosis and therapy, which have improved not only the life expectancy of diseased pets, but also their quality of life. In addition, advances in medical genetics and molecular science, determinants to increase knowledge of the etiologies and mechanisms of the disease in humans, have been a great boost in research on heart and respiratory diseases in small animals. This Special Issue focuses on current problems and advances in clinical and preventive cardiorespiratory medicine in small animals. Areas of interest range throughout the field of cardiology and respiratory processes and include new and original diagnostic findings, diagnostic tools, including conventional and advanced diagnostic imaging, and Holter monitoring. Furthermore, novelties in pharmacology and pharmacological treatments include antiarrhythmic drugs, diuretics, vasoactive agents and inotropes, as well as interventional cardiology and pulmonology, treatment management and adjuvants, and prognosis. Developments in underlying cardiovascular and respiratory disease pathophysiology processes, both of congenital and acquired natures, and other topics related to cardiorespiratory medicine in small animals, are also welcome.
