Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The potential applications of electrochemical sensors and biosensors are at the forefront of other methods due to their unique characteristics, such as functional diversity, miniaturization, intelligence, low cost, point-of-care application, easy-to-use, and high sensitivity. In recent years, due to the high requirement of the global market and human interest in having a simple, sensitive, and fast response device to check the concentration of species in different samples, there has been severe competition among researchers and companies to design and manufacture new sensors and biosensors.

In this Special issue, we aim to explore recent advances in materials, techniques, and applications of electrochemical sensors and biosensors. We welcome manuscripts covering the following areas:

  1. Electrochemical biosensors for molecular diagnostics;
  2. Development of electrochemical biosensors for the detection of disease-related biomarkers and clinical application;
  3. Nanomaterials-based signal amplification in electrochemical sensors;
  4. Enzyme-based electrochemical biosensors;
  5. Development of microfluidic electrochemical sensors and lab-on-chip sensing devices;
  6. Simultaneous multianalyte detection;
  7. Electrochemical biosensors in point-of-care detection devices;
  8. Novel material-based sensors;
  9. Advancement of the electrochemical sensors in Lifescience;
  10. Application of new nanomaterials in electrochemical sensors;
  11. Immunosensors and DNA-based biosensors;
  12. Fuel cell;
  13. Self-powered electrochemical sensors;
  14. Electrochemical sensors in air pollution monitoring;
  15. Environmental analysis;
  16. Pharmaceutical applications of electrochemical sensors;
  17. Renewable energy.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
