Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The past decade has seen unprecedented development and advancement in technology that has had a profound impact on the field of Intelligent Management. The innovations in data science, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, blockchain, inter alia, have changed the way people perceive and harness technology to cope with the challenges that humanity are faced with. High-speed Internet connections, cloud computing and like terms that used to appear solely in journals of the technology field are becoming common knowledge in the financial industry. Education and social scientists concerned with general education, childcare, foreign language learning, long-term care, physical and mental disorders, and other socially vulnerable groups, are infusing and implementing Intelligent Management in their profession. The potential of Intelligent Management to improve the quality of life, decision-making in modern management, and learning efficiency is promising and deserves exploration.

Chaoyang University of Technology thus initiates International Conference on Social Sciences and Intelligent Management SSIM 2021, a forum for the presentation and sharing of new advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and applied Social Sciences and Intelligent Management. The Special Issue on “Selected Papers from 2021 International Conference on Social Sciences and Intelligent Management” aims to select excellent papers from SSIM 2021. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to, technological advancements and applications in the following fields:

  • Intelligent technology in finance, insurance and accounting
  • Intelligent management

Stock tape reading involves surveilling stock prices once in a while and recording stock prices. The method of observing stock prices may be television or stock exchange. The time step for recoding stock prices is every stock user’s experience and their theory, perhaps 3 min or 2 h and so on. As an example, the Taiwan stock market starts at 9:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. It will have a 4 h operating time. Splitting the 4 h operating time for tape reading is the skill of stock users. The stock price sequence generated by tape reading can be predicted by stock users, but finally, it is the stock user’s experience. Therefore, the meaning of tape reading is to record the stock price, but its concept should have no prediction purpose. This study used thread technology and proposed a tape-reading method with web scraping. This method can periodically scrape stock prices and generate a stock price sequence to Excel file. This application can satisfy the demand of these stock users, who are called day trading users. Because these day trading users want to gain stock price sequences minute by minute, rather than the stock exchange format day by day, and also ones which are better than the those provided by the stock website service, because its stock sequence format is limited and not normalized, these day trading users think that minute-by-minute stock price sequences are very clear to forecast. This study implemented the prior scheme and designed the GUI to query a company’s stock price and its stock news, even per second, etc., and how long it took to update the stock price, and the GUI also included a time-up feature to stop scraping stock prices if users just wanted to scrape stock prices periodically. This research investigated how children aged five to six performed in social interactions and participation by learning American English through music technology activities in an inclusive class. The purposes of this research were to analyze, through music technology activities, the social interactions and participation of children in the inclusive class. Therefore, the research question was as follows: can music technology activities significantly improve children’s social interactions and participation in an inclusive class? There were two themes for the research teaching, each of which included seven weeks of instruction. The teaching content involved three stages, which were pre-test, implementation, and post-test. The research teaching was given 40 min per session twice a week and continued for 14 weeks with 28 teaching times. The methodology primarily consisted of a qualitative assessment of participation, observations, and interviews. In addition to collecting and analyzing qualitative data, quantitative data were also employed in the study. Data sources were semi-structured observation forms, anecdote records, language test scales and interview records, and feedback forms. The results indicated that all children had positive performance in social interactions and participating motivation, as supported by statistical results of social validity. Furthermore, the children’s cooperation and communication effectively improved through music technology activities. Nevertheless, the limitation of the study is the insufficient number of participants involved in the evaluation. For future research, utilizing more than 30 samples would be more appropriate and would supplement the social network analysis to carry out more in-depth investigations and discussions. Full article

Taipei Metro, since its inception in 1996, has become the most important public transport option for commuters and travelers in the metropolitan Taipei area, delivering over two million daily rides. Nevertheless, the interior environment of Taipei Metro has a reputation for being disorienting, especially to the infrequent passengers. By incorporating the methods of behavioral mapping and visibility analysis, this study argues that the occurrence of disorientation is highly dependent on visual properties of Taipei Metro’s interior layout. Specifically, the number of decision-making stops and the visibility conditions of stairs and escalators are found to be particularly influential. To enhance the passengers’ wayfinding experience, a mobile application comprised of two components is proposed. The Route Planner is to advise the passengers to avoid the areas that cause disorientation, while the Navigator, by providing the panoramic views of certain locations, can help the passengers reach their destinations more easily.
