Theoretical Biology and Biomathematics

A section of Biology (ISSN 2079-7737).

Section Information

The Theoretical Biology and Biomathematics section covers a wide range of fields, ranging from the philosophy and history of biology to medical mathematics. Indeed, the evolution of theoretical concepts and modeling techniques has had a strong impact on both biological ideas and biomedical techniques. For example, research on the origin of life has drawn heavily on evolutionary concepts and methods; the monitoring of contagious diseases has benefited from advances in population dynamics modeling; and understanding metabolism has relied on the use of both enzyme kinetics equations and epigenetic networks. The close intertwining of theories and the mathematical models that express them have thus permeated all fields of contemporary biology and modern medicine. The Theoretical Biology and Biomathematics section welcomes all theoretical and/or mathematical work related to this scientific approach.
