Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

HIV is one of the most important infectious diseases due to its clinical and sociological implications, as patients still face stigma, and its wide diffusion, despite long-standing awareness and prevention campaigns. Research has made many advancements to improve not only treatment effectiveness but also patient quality of life. Nowadays, therapies are based on single-tablet regimens, reducing the pill burden. Additionally, there is also the revolutionary possibility of resorting to long-acting injection therapy, administered every two months. In fact, this could guarantee patients greater freedom around therapy, avoiding taking daily drugs, which could further translate, for some, into logistical and sometimes psychological advantages. This Special Issue aims to analyze the effect of this type of regimen on patients in terms of efficacy and metabolism.
