Dear Colleagues,
Lung cancer is the most common cause of tumour-related deaths worldwide, accounting for 18.4% of all cancer deaths. NSCLC is most common, representing roughly 85% of all lung cancer cases in the US and Europe, and has the highest mortality rate. Significant improvements in the clinical outcome for lung cancer patients have been achieved over the past decade, and this is a result of the introduction of targeted therapies in genetically selected subpopulations of patients, as well as the unprecedented efficacy of immunotherapy. Despite this, only a small proportion of patients respond to immunotherapy and few patients achieve long-term survival.
This Special Issue will encompass research that focuses on novel mechanisms and treatment options for NSCLC, with the objective of bringing together the most novel research in the field. This will provide a comprehensive view of NSCLC, offering a valuable tool for basic and translational scientists. We seek high-quality original research and review papers on topics that include, but are not limited to, the following: mechanisms of NSCLC development and progression, cell death in NSCLC, the interplay between NSCLC cells and the tumour microenvironment, novel therapeutic options targeting NSCLC, biomarkers of response to therapeutics targeting NSCLC, strategies to overcome resistance to treatment for NSCLC, and advances in technology and models to study NSCLC.
