Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, “Nature-Inspired Solutions: Advances in Biomimetics,” aims to showcase recent advances in the development of innovative technologies, materials, structures, and functional systems inspired by nature. Biomimetics provides a powerful framework for translating biological principles into sustainable and high-performance solutions across engineering, materials science, robotics, architecture, and biomedical applications.

We welcome contributions addressing emerging concepts, experimental approaches, theoretical models, and technological applications inspired by biological structures, mechanisms, and processes. Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary research that connects biological understanding with engineering innovation and demonstrates how nature-inspired principles can contribute to solving current technological and societal challenges.

Both original research articles and review papers are welcome, covering a broad range of topics in biomimetics, including bio-inspired materials and surfaces, adhesion and friction, locomotion and robotics, structural design, sensing and actuation, adaptive and multifunctional systems, and sustainable nature-inspired technologies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biomimetics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
