Dear Colleagues,

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have emerged as pivotal regulators of gene expression and cellular function, revolutionizing our understanding of molecular biology. Unlike their protein-coding counterparts, ncRNAs do not encode proteins but exert their influence through various mechanisms. Among these, microRNAs (miRNAs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are prominent examples, playing critical roles in RNA interference, epigenetic regulation, and RNA editing. These regulatory RNAs are integral to cellular signaling pathways, ensuring precise control over gene expression and maintaining cellular homeostasis.

Recent research has uncovered the significant impact of ncRNAs on disease mechanisms. They serve as disease biomarkers, offering insights into pathogenesis and potential targets for therapeutic intervention. RNA therapeutics, which harness the power of ncRNAs, are a burgeoning field with the promise of innovative treatments for a wide array of diseases. This Special Issue, entitled "The Silent Regulators: Non-coding RNAs in Cell Function and Disease", aims to delve into the multifaceted roles of ncRNAs, exploring their contributions to cellular processes and their implications in health and disease.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
