Omics Technologies for Understanding Cell Pathophysiology

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to present the Special Issue in Cells entitled “Omics Technologies for Understanding Cell Pathophysiology”, which aims to collect articles focusing on the cutting-edge omics technologies that help to understand cell biology in physiology and pathology settings.

A cell's phenotype continually changes to adapt to the environment and respond to functional demands, and disease arises when this is not possible.

As we delve deeper into the complexity of cell biology, we learn more about the regulation of physiological and pathological processes and how these are influenced by the interaction between endogenous and exogenous factors at the interface of genetics and epigenetics.

Omics technologies are continuously developing and allow us to understand in detail the mechanisms that regulate the cell's behavior in response to microenvironmental stimuli.

We need to bring together the molecular knowledge about genes, splicing, epigenetic regulations, the proteome and the metabolism, and how these change in response to environmental stimuli.

Understanding this complexity is instrumental for preserving health, preventing disease, assuring health ageing, and designing personalized treatment for specific diseases.

This Special Issue will feature a curated selection of papers from esteemed experts in the translational applications of cellular omics technologies, and in vitro/in silico modeling.

We welcome contributions on the applications (e.g., diagnosis, personalized therapy) in health and disease of innovative cellular omics technologies, including genomics, epigenomics, spliceosomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, exosomics, immunomics, and their impact on cell behavior, including cell signaling, cell proliferation, cell migration, cell senescence and cell transformation.

We hope that the knowledge shared within this Special Issue will stimulate further research and discussions, fostering advancements in the field of cell biology and pathophysiology.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
