Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the fast-paced and dynamically changing landscape of the 21st century, our world faces an array of challenges ranging from environmental conservation to revolutionizing personalized medicine and beyond. These challenges demand innovative solutions, and at the heart of this quest lies the urgent need for smart novel materials that can tackle these issues head-on. Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as a highly promising class of materials in addressing some of the most critical challenges of our age. MOFs signify a significant departure from conventional materials thanks to their extraordinary adaptability and versatility. These crystalline structures are composed of interconnected metal ions or clusters bonded by organic ligands, and their distinct attributes render them exceptionally suited for a diverse array of applications. One of the standout features of MOFs is their customizability. Researchers can design MOFs with specific structures and properties tailored to solve a myriad of current challenges. The present Special Issue on "Novel Applications of Metal-Organic Frameworks and Covalent-Organic Frameworks" stands as a testament to the remarkable strides made in the field of MOFs. It is intended as a comprehensive status report summarizing the impressive progress achieved in recent years. As researchers continue to explore the multifaceted capabilities of MOFs, this collection of studies and findings not only showcases the adaptability and versatility of these materials but also underscores their pivotal role in addressing pressing global challenges. The advancements presented in this Special Issue provide a glimpse into a future where MOFs are poised to play a central role in shaping solutions to some of the most complex issues of our time. With the collective knowledge and innovation shared within these pages, we move one step closer to harnessing the full potential of MOFs in areas such as environmental conservation, healthcare, clean energy, and beyond.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Crystals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
