Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across different learning environments, seeking to highlight the increasing role AI plays within all academic domains of education—including K12 and higher education contexts. We are interested in addressing the ways that learning applications, software, and innovative teaching strategies have integrated AI to facilitate the achievement of educational objectives. This Special Issue covers studies in both in-person and remote learning scenarios as we examine the application of conversational AI tools that simulate human-like interactions and provide students with personalized tutoring and assistance. Also under review are AI learning metrics, including sophisticated systems capable of tracking and analyzing student performance data to offer insights into learning patterns, strengths, and improvement areas. Additionally, we consider AI-enhanced learning software that adapts educational content to the individual learner's pace and understanding, thus optimizing the learning experience. Other facets of our investigation include various forms of AI integration within education that contribute to a more engaging, efficient, and personalized learning process. Our interest extend to studies employing quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approaches to research, including active experimentation and questionnaire-based studies, aiming to shed light on the effectiveness and impact of AI in education.
