Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The global transition towards sustainable energy systems is increasingly driven by innovations in electrical transportation and storage technologies. As the demand for cleaner energy sources rises, integrating these technologies into existing power and energy systems has become essential. Electrical transportation, including electric vehicles and advanced energy storage solutions such as batteries, has a pivotal role in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the efficiency of power systems. This Special Issue addresses the critical need to explore and optimize these technologies within the broader context of sustainable energy systems.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of recent advances and challenges in the integration of electrical transportation and energy storage into power systems. This focus aligns with the journal's scope by addressing key aspects of power and energy systems, including system modeling, energy management, and the impact of sustainable technologies on power grid stability and resilience. The goal is to provide a multidisciplinary dialog that brings together experts in power systems, energy markets, transportation technologies, and environmental sustainability.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Integration of electric vehicles into smart grids;
  • Advances in energy storage technologies and their applications;
  • Energy management systems for sustainable transportation;
  • Impact of renewable energy sources with storage on power system stability;
  • Optimization of power distribution networks with storage and electric vehicles;
  • Policy and economic considerations for electrical transportation and energy storage;
  • Exploring the role of distributed energy resources, including rooftop solar, in conjunction with energy storage and electrical transportation;
  • Examining the potential of electric vehicles as mobile energy storage units contributing to grid stability;
  • Innovations in electric vehicle charging stations, including wireless and ultra-fast charging solutions;
  • Environmental and economic impacts of storage production, usage, and recycling;
  • Application of artificial intelligence and machine learning for optimizing the operation of energy storage systems and electrical transportation networks;
  • Assessing the role of batteries and other storage technologies in enhancing the reliability of wind and solar energy;
  • Analysis of global and regional policies driving the adoption of electrical transportation and energy storage;
  • Addressing the challenges and solutions for protecting energy systems from cyber threats;
  • Combining different energy storage technologies and their integration with electrical transportation for improved efficiency;
  • Studying market mechanisms and economic incentives to promote the adoption of sustainable energy technologies.

We look forward to receiving insightful contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
