Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the context of the digital revolution transforming numerous aspects of society such as governance, economics, and communication, this Special Issue tackles the critical aspect of trust in cyber-physical systems that depend on diverse resources and services, like edge-to-cloud computing. Building upon the existing literature, it investigates the role of blockchain, distributed ledger technologies, microservices, and trusted computing environments in enhancing trust, traceability, and security within intricate, decentralized ecosystems. Thus, it contributes to the wider discussion on managing trusted knowledge in dynamic, multi-stakeholder environments.

This Special Issue aims to explore the latest developments in blockchain technology, decentralized environments, and their impact on trust, security, and information management. It seeks to consolidate advanced theoretical and applied research to establish a multilayered and modular technology framework. Moreover, it aims at solutions that enhance performance and scalability and engage diverse business logic, access methods, and governance models, while ensuring secure, transparent content, information exchange, and service interoperability.

The topics covered in this Special Issue include but are not limited to the latest developments in the following fields:

  • Merging trends in decentralized ledger technologies;
  • Edge-to-cloud computing to support blockchain;
  • Blockchain-based trustworthy computing environments;
  • Trustworthy data governance with blockchain;
  • Digital identities with blockchain;
  • Resource management for blockchain;
  • Blockchain-based service management;
  • System model design for blockchain.

We kindly invite you to submit your latest, high-quality research results for publication in this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
