Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Electrocatalysis is the core of energy storage and conversion devices and represents a research hotspot in the field of nanomaterials and energy chemistry. In advanced electrocatalytic reaction systems, high-performance electrocatalysts are the key to improving conversion capabilities and reducing energy consumption. Electrocatalytic reactions generally involve the transfer of multiple electrons and the adsorption/desorption process of reaction intermediates; thus, the binding ability of electrocatalysts to reactants/intermediates/products plays a decisive role in the conversion reaction, which includes the atomic scale problems manifesting at macro scale. Therefore, research is focused on rational use of electrochemistry, interface science, material science, and theoretical calculations to design and fabricate electrocatalysts with unique morphology and structure and thereby modify their corresponding catalytic capability.

This Special Issue aims to cover recent trends and progress in the development of electrocatalysts for energy conversion applications, including but not limited to hydrogen evolution, hydrogen oxidation, oxygen evolution, oxygen reduction, carbon dioxide reduction, nitrogen reduction, and methanol oxidation reactions. The goal of this Special Issue is to provide the readership with a collection of articles in which emphasis is placed not only on newly designed electrocatalysts with unique morphology and structure but also on in-depth understanding of the dynamic change of catalysts during the electrocatalysis process in addition to the catalytic mechanism for enhancing performance.
