10th Anniversary

The year 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of Environments, a peer-reviewed, open access journal on environmental sciences. With an Impact Factor of 3.5 and a CiteScore of 5.7, the journal is covered in Scopus, ESCI (Web of Science), and other databases. The journal has published more than 1200 papers from more than 4600 authors. More than 2700 reviewers have reviewed papers published by the journal at least once. We equally value the contributions made by our editors, authors, and reviewers.

In honor of the journal’s 10th anniversary, we are reflecting on our past accomplishments and embarking on an exciting new chapter. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone for our journal and to explore the content we have prepared for you below.

10th Anniversary

Journal History


The inaugural issue was released. Environments was published as a quarterly journal.

Prof. Dr. Yu-Pin Lin was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Environments.

The first issue of Environments was published in September 2014.

Environments was indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics).

Environments announced the first edition of the Travel Award.

Environments adopted a monthly publication schedule.

Environments was indexed in Scopus.

Environments received its first Citescore (2019) of 0.7.

Environments published its 500th paper.

Environments received its second CiteScore (2020) of 4.1, ranking 141/647 in the category "Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics".

Environments announced the first edition of the Best Paper Award.

Environments received its third CiteScore (2021) of 5.2, ranking 112/687 in the category "Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics".

Environments received its fourth CiteScore (2022) of 5.9, ranking 104/687 in the category "Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics".

Environments received its first Impact Factor (3.7) in “Environmental Sciences”.

Prof. Dr. Sergio Ulgiati was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Environments.



Environments received its fifth CiteScore (2023) of 5.7, ranking 124/721 in the category "Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics".



Environments received its second Impact Factor (3.5) in “Environmental Sciences”.

Environments 2025 Travel Award—Open for Applications

To reward the academic community, especially young researchers, and enhance communication among scientists, Environments (ISSN: 2076-3298) is pleased to offer the 2025 Travel Award.

This award provides financial support for one winner to attend an international conference in the field of environmental sciences and related research to be held in 2025 to hold a presentation, present a poster, or both. 

Prizes:

  • CHF 500;
  • The offer to publish one paper free of charge in Environments before the end of 2025 following peer review;
