Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Forest can play an important role in economics growth by providing goods and services. Forests provide a wide range of social benefits. Forests are also important in mitigating the effect of climate change, protection of biodiversity, etc. Forest and forest products play a critical role in supporting the livelihood of people. About \({\frac{1}{8}}\) of the world population either lives in forests or their lives are somehow dependent on forests (FAO, 2005). Local communities can play a significant role in managing the forests and reducing forest degradation. Forest management and policy require a transition from traditional wood production management to prioritizing social needs and sustainable livelihoods. This Special Issue provides an opportunity for researchers to present the results of studies on sustainable livelihood in forest management and forest utilization.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Participatory forest management;
  • Community forestry;
  • Sustainable management of non-timber forest products;
  • Socioeconomics values of forests.
