Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Internet of things (IoT) is a direct network communication to an object without the help of human-to-computer or human-to-human interaction systems. IoT will be operate in a “smart” way, based on machine-to-machine communication systems. Cloud computing is a service that offers storage on the Internet. Cloud-based IoT consists of three models, namely things, gateways, and cloud networks.

With the usage of the Internet increasing around the world, big data analytics emerge. Storing data requires cloud computing technology. Computational approaches included in cloud-based IoT are machine-to-machine communications, big data, cloud storage, data analytics and priority action. The applications included in the computational approaches to cloud-based IoT are healthcare applications, data acquisition and agricultural applications. The convergence of IoT and cloud computing is used for data collection and file sharing approaches. There are two ways to perform cloud computing based on IoT: High-performance computing and high throughput computing. The combination of high performance and high throughput computing produces parallel distributed computing.

This Special Issue aims to gather the latest research and development achievements in recent trends in computational approaches to cloud-based IoT and to promote their application in all important research fields. Example topics of interest are various aspects of IoT, including, but not limited to, the following:

  •  Advanced network infrastructure for the future Internet
  •  Research advances in data resilience in wireless networks
  •  Future networking perspective of wireless communication
  •  Advanced network solutions for the future of the Internet of things
  •  Application of big data, resilience and smart cities
  •  Sustainable informatics in mobile learning approach
  •  Big data applications in smart cities
  •  Advanced intelligent computing applications for cloud-based IoT
  •  Sustainable decision making in soft computing applications
  •  Network estimation and processing techniques
  •  IoT device and network domain technologies
  •  User-oriented, context-aware IoT services
  •  Network-based applications
  •  Next generation web architecture

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
