Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue on "Multi-omics and Precision Medicine in Chronic Complex Multi-System Diseases" addresses the urgent need to understand and combat the rising prevalence of complex, chronic multi-system conditions worldwide. With diseases like neurological and metabolic diseases, and infection-induced sequelae such as ME/CFS, post-treatment Lyme disease, and long COVID on the rise, it is crucial to enhance medical practice and healthcare by providing biomarkers for early diagnosis and effective treatment. This approach aims not only to enhance the quality of life for patients but also to identify risk factors for preventive measures.

Advancements in biological and computer sciences now enable real-time precision medicine. Through integrative multi-omics approaches including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome analysis, antibody profiling, and epigenomics, alongside clinical and health data, we can understand the molecular mechanisms underlying these diseases, including their etiology, progression, and heterogeneity.

In this Special Issue, we aim to showcase cutting-edge research and innovative methodologies that shed light on the complex interplay between genetic, environmental, and physiological factors in chronic complex multi-system diseases. Our goal is to foster the development of personalized treatment strategies and targeted therapies tailored to individual patients based on multi-omics profiling. By identifying biomarkers for early diagnosis and effective therapeutics, we aim to deliver a healthier lifespan to patient populations worldwide.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and perspectives addressing various key themes, including biomarker identification, integration of multi-omics data, precision medicine approaches, novel technologies for data analysis, understanding disease pathophysiology, and exploring comorbidities in chronic complex multi-system diseases, alongside those resulting from post-infection or environmental trauma.

By bringing together contributions from researchers and clinicians across diverse disciplines, this Special Issue aims to advance our understanding of chronic complex multi-system diseases and accelerate the translation of multi-omics discoveries into clinical practice. Together, we can pave the way for personalized interventions and improved outcomes for patients affected by these challenging conditions.

We look forward to your valuable contributions to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Genes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
