Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Vascular complications, though historically overshadowed by other cardiovascular concerns, have increasingly garnered attention due to their pivotal impact on arterial function and systemic health. The intricate interplay between maladaptive processes within arterial structures and their resultant implications for cardiovascular dynamics represents a burgeoning area of research, presenting multifaceted challenges and opportunities for investigation and intervention. The importance of this research area lies not only in unraveling the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying vascular complications but also in comprehensively understanding their ramifications on cardiovascular health. By elucidating the intricate links between these complications within arterial walls and the ensuing cascade of cardiovascular events, we aim to pave the way for innovative diagnostic modalities, novel therapeutic strategies, and preventive interventions.

The emergence of vascular complications as a prominent contributor to cardiovascular diseases has sparked profound interest and urgency within the medical and scientific communities. This Special Issue aims to delve into the intricate relationship between vascular complications and their significant role in shaping the landscape of cardiovascular health by serving as a forum for the exchange of cutting-edge research, encompassing diverse perspectives from esteemed experts in cardiology, oncology, vascular biology, and related disciplines. Through in-depth explorations of vascular complications as a pivotal player in cardiovascular diseases, we endeavor to not only expand the existing knowledge base but also to catalyze transformative advancements with far-reaching implications for clinical practice and patient care.

As we embark on this scientific journey, we invite contributions that delve into the complexities of vascular complications, from fundamental mechanistic insights to clinical implications, aiming to shape a deeper understanding of their role as a leading cause for cardiovascular diseases.

Original research articles, review articles, case studies and case series, perspective and opinion pieces, editorials, and commentaries on, but not limited to, the following research topics are welcomed:

  • Studies on various complications such as atherosclerosis, thrombosis, embolism, aneurysm, arterial occlusion and vascular stenosis, leading to reduced blood flow, hypertension, ischemia, tissue damage, pressure overload, or other maladaptive cardiovascular events.
  • Pathophysiological mechanisms.
  • Epidemiology and risk factors.
  • Clinical implications and diagnostics.
  • Therapeutic interventions.
  • Translational research and theranostics.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
