Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is well known that endocrine hormones play an important role in our lives and that thyroid hormones represent a significant and multifaceted presence in the field of endocrinology. While the effects of sex hormones and insulin tend to have very specific symptoms, the signs of thyroid dysfunction can be non-specific and can be attributed to other diseases. Reference values for thyroid hormones, particularly thyroid-stimulating hormones, are controversial and vary according to several parameters (e.g., age, sex, nationality, and ethnicity). Original studies, case studies, e.g., of unusual manifestations, reviews, and short communications that are likely to provide further insights into the additional roles, regulations, interactions with other hormones, diseases, and treatments of the thyroid gland are invited.

This Special Issue of Healthcare focuses on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Environmental factors in thyroid (dys)function;
  • Regulation of thyroid hormones;
  • Unusual presentations of thyroid disease;
  • Treatments of thyroid dysfunction.
