Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the last two years, the sudden and severe changes trigged by the pandemic have overwhelmed societies around the world, leaving us wondering: How has this event affected our awareness of the environmental crisis? Has it been moved to the background or become even more evident? In particular, what repercussions has the pandemic had on people's pro-environmental behaviors, intentions and attitudes? This Special Issue will trace the effects of the pandemic on society's concern for the environmental crisis, with the goal of  understanding how such a devastating event for human health may have influenced individuals’ view of environmental issues and how this relates to their pro-environmental intentions and behaviors in everyday life. We are therefore inviting the submission of research results concerning classic attitude–behavior models in the context of pro-environmental behaviors before and / or during the pandemic in various ecologically relevant areas (from mobility to waste management, from energy use to consumption, from tourism to work environments, and more). Our theoretical objective is to assess the stability of such models and to put forward hypotheses on their future directions while tracing the course of environmental concern in the pandemic era.
