Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cultural heritage involves a great variety of data that have to be communicated to a large audience. Linked data refers to all data that are published on the Web using standards and principles to set hyperlinks between data from different sources. The Internet of Things aims at providing smart integration of cultural data, applications, and services. Furthermore, the Semantic Web supports the presentation of structured data that are meant to be comprehended by many users with different characteristics, interests, and background knowledge. For this purpose, cultural informatics use different methods, which may include machine learning, decision making, data visualization, and data processing, to improve human–computer interaction and the presentation of these data.
The goal in this Special Issue is twofold: a) to broaden the scope and explore linked data for culture and b) to include the latest developed technologies providing smart integration of cultural data, applications, and services. Authors are invited to submit papers on original and unpublished research and practical applications concerning linked data for cultural heritage. This may involve: linked open data, data mining, social media analytics, user modeling and user adapted interaction, cultural informatics, evaluation of cultural software, Semantic Web and cultural data, the Internet of Things in the Cultural Heritage, machine learning in cultural heritage, multi-criteria decision making in cultural software, etc.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Information is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs).
