Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Vestibular migraine (VM) is a debilitating neurological disorder that affects both balance and headache symptoms, significantly reducing patients’ quality of life. While conventional treatments such as vestibular rehabilitation, pharmacotherapy, and lifestyle modifications have been widely used, novel therapeutic approaches are emerging, offering new possibilities for VM management.

Recent advancements include neuromodulation therapies, such as sympathetic nerve stimulation devices, and biological treatments targeting calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). Additionally, dietary interventions, including migraine-specific elimination diets and nutritional supplementation, are gaining attention for their potential role in symptom management. However, comparative efficacy and long-term benefits of these approaches remain to be fully elucidated.

This Special Issue aims to explore and evaluate innovative treatment strategies for VM, with a focus on the following aspects:

  • Neuromodulation therapies, including sympathetic nerve stimulation and other device-based treatments.
  • Biological treatments, such as CGRP-targeted therapies and monoclonal antibodies.
  • Dietary interventions, including elimination diets, ketogenic and low-glycemic index diets, and nutritional supplements.
  • Comparative effectiveness studies assessing novel treatments versus conventional pharmacotherapy.
  • Pathophysiological insights, exploring how emerging therapies influence vestibular and migraine mechanisms.
  • Patient-reported outcomes and quality of life, evaluating the real-world impact of new therapeutic strategies.
  • Future perspectives and challenges in the clinical adoption of novel treatments for VM.
