Numerical Investigation of Fluid-Structure Interactions in Coastal and Offshore Engineering

Dear Colleagues,

Recently, numerical modeling has played an important role in the study of fluid–structure and wave–structure interactions. Numerical models (i.e., Lagrangian, finite element, or volume of fluid methods, etc.), if validated against experimental or field data, could be of great help in modeling real situations and selected parts of coastal and offshore structures, including floating bodies.

The purpose of this Special Issue is to collect research papers, extended review works, and work involving technical applications concerning coastal and offshore engineering problems related to fluid–structure interactions. Novel techniques, code optimization, and validations are encouraged.

Contributions concerning (but not limited to) the following topics are welcome:

• Hydrodynamics and morphodynamics of interaction with coastal structures;
• Loads and overtopping on rubble mound and vertical breakwaters;
• Wave interactions with offshore structures, including floating bodies;
• Generation and propagation of tsunamis and their impact on coastal structures and reservoir dams;
• Wave penetration inside ports and interactions with moored ships;
• Long-period oscillations generated by wind waves interacting with coastal infrastructures;
• Interactions between fluid and wave energy converters.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
