Response of Offshore and Coastal Structures Subject to Currents and Waves

Dear Colleagues,

It is well appreciated that the marine engineering industry and research has been rapidly extended offshore. Indeed, structures are not limited to a certain number of oil and gas offshore platforms anymore. The oil crisis along with a serious concern around issues concerning the climate crisis have led the global community and the industry to move toward sustainable and effective renewable energy sources, such as offshore wind turbines and nearshore and offshore wave (and/or) current energy extraction devices. Simultaneously, fish farms are moving offshore to be able to maintain water quality within fish cages in a more effective and more environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, engineers and researchers face new challenges concerning the design of the new type of nearshore and offshore structures against the harsh ocean environment.

This Special Issue aims to bring together the latest achievements related to structures’ responses to waves and currents and disseminate it freely to the academic and industrial community.

Manuscripts of high-quality standard, investigating the mentioned topics and/or new related ones, proposals of novel approaches are largely encouraged.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
