Dear Colleagues,
World Soil Day, celebrated annually on December 5th, is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness of the crucial role of soil in sustaining life and promoting sustainable development. This international day serves as a platform to emphasize the significance of soil as a critical resource for food security, climate regulation, water filtration, biodiversity conservation, and supporting essential ecosystem functions. World Soil Day aims to highlight the urgent need for the sustainable management of this fragile resource.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to celebrate 10 years of “World Soil Day”. Papers (original research articles and review papers) are encouraged that provide an overview of soil health and successful activities on increasing soil literacy and public engagement in different parts of the world. The scope is to share ideas that have worked, understand how challenges were overcome, how to best to engage key stakeholders (e.g. industry, NGOs, public administrations, land owners) and to identify gaps. Examples can include
- initiatives related to the protection and restoration of soil, including those co-developed with citizens (including citizen science initiaitives),
- the communication of relevant knowledge, awareness raising and outreach activities related to soil education
- relevant artistic endevours, products, performances and audio-visual activities relating to soil
- communication science focusing on soils

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
