MaNaPro XIII
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I invite you to participate in the 13th International Symposium on Marine Natural Products (MaNaPro XIII), to be held at Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa, Phuket, Thailand, during October 17-22, 2010.
Phuket Island has long been named - and is proud of it - the Pearl of the Andaman for her natural beauty and cultural richness. With such a namesake, we found it quite appropriate to name the theme of MaNaPro XIII, "The Pearl of Marine Natural Products." The Scientific Program, assembled with the assistance from the International Advisory Board Committee, will cover a series of exciting sessions in all related areas, including discovery of novel metabolites, biosynthesis, synthesis, new techniques in chromatography and spectroscopy, biological and pharmacological activities, novel organisms as novel sources, biodiversity and chemical ecology, marine aquaculture, marine natural products in nutraceuticals, sea foods and cosmetics, etc. Under such theme, we wish to exemplify how marine natural products have become one of the major and respectable fields in natural science within only a few decades.
In addition to the scientific activities, Phuket has a lot to offer outside the conference hall. Beaches after beaches along the Andaman coastline are famous for her laid-back atmosphere and moments of solitude. Yet, for some hyperactive folks, Phuket would cordially invite you to her long list of recreational activities from scuba diving and parasailing to something as exotic as elephant riding. On the other hand, the century-old buildings in Sino-Portuguese style along the streets of downtown Phuket, and the flavor of spicy, yet sophisticated, Southern Thai food, are just some of the endless cultural uniqueness that Phuket takes as one of her prides. While not attending the conference, take your time off to explore Phuket and her vicinity, and enjoy yourself with some of her beauty.
Currently, we are working on both scientific program and social activities. The webpage will be updated frequently. Come and visit us often to check on how the organizing progresses. Any of your suggestions, either on the scientific program or the social functions, are totally welcome, so that we could accommodate your needs and make this MaNaPro XIII a success just like all of those preceding ones.
