Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue centers on the innovative applications of intelligent computing in image processing and computer vision. As these fields evolve, it is crucial to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation, especially for tackling complex, real world problems in sectors such as healthcare, remote sensing, autonomous systems, security, industry, and predictive maintenance. We aim to highlight the transformative effects of intelligent computing in these domains, focusing on application-driven contexts. We invite contributions that demonstrate successful implementations across various industries, with the goal of fostering collaboration between academia and industry to effectively address real world challenges.
The Special Issue welcomes original research papers, comprehensive reviews, and case studies. We welcome submissions that demonstrate the application of intelligent algorithms and models in addressing significant challenges covering, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Medical Imaging: intelligent computing techniques for enhancing medical image analysis, including diagnostic tools, automated segmentation, and image enhancement for improved clinical outcomes.
- Industrial Inspection and Automation: application of advanced image processing methods in defect detection, quality control, and automation within manufacturing processes.
- Security and Surveillance: development of intelligent systems for real-time video analysis, including object detection, behavior recognition, and threat assessment.
- Prognostics and Health Management (PHM): utilization of intelligent computing in the monitoring and predictive maintenance of industrial systems, including fault detection, failure prediction, and lifespan estimation.
- Autonomous Systems: integration of computer vision in autonomous vehicles and drones, focusing on navigation, obstacle detection, and situational awareness.
- Augmented and Virtual Reality: practical applications of computer vision in creating immersive AR/VR experiences for sectors like education, training, and entertainment.
- Agricultural Technology: implementation of intelligent imaging techniques for precision agriculture, including crop monitoring, disease detection, and yield optimization.
- Cultural Heritage Preservation: use of image processing for the restoration, preservation, and digitization of cultural artifacts and historical sites.
- Environmental Monitoring: application of intelligent computing in environmental monitoring and remote sensing, contributing to climate change studies and resource management.
- Mathematical modeling and analysis of image data: development of novel mathematical frameworks for representing, analyzing, and understanding image information.
- Optimization and learning algorithms: exploration of efficient optimization techniques and machine learning models tailored for image processing tasks.
- Geometric and topological methods: application of geometric and topological concepts for image analysis, feature extraction, and shape recognition.
- Statistical and probabilistic models: development of probabilistic models for image modeling, segmentation, and interpretation.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
