New Discoveries in Fundamental and Application Research in Lipid Membrane

Dear Colleagues,

It has been 60 years since the research on liposomes began. To date, extensive research on lipid membranes has been reported in various fields, and some of the materials have been utilized as commercial products and are now being applied. The fundamental research and application of lipid membranes appear to be mature. Still, the properties and structure of various lipid membranes derived from nanoscale scales remain unclear, and their applications are numerous. Additionally, cell functions strongly related to the cell membrane are unknown and thus require clarification.

Given these circumstances, this Special Issue on “New Discoveries in Fundamental and Application Research in Lipid Membrane” of the journal Membranes aims to publish original and high-quality articles in the fundamental or application research of lipid membranes from many different fields: analytical chemistry, quatum chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc., for structure, properties, phenomenon of novel lipid self-assembled structure, heterogeneous lipid membrane etc.

Some papers, although not showing high performance, that propose the possibility of new lipid research and applications are also welcome.

In addition, review papers are also welcome, as this is an ideal opportunity to review the tremendous research on lipid membranes and uncover previously overlooked studies.

Lastly, we look forward to publishing these papers on lipid membranes, which represent significant progress in lipid membrane research.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Membranes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
