Systems Microbiology

A section of Microorganisms (ISSN 2076-2607).

Section Information

Microorganisms live in complex environments, interacting with each other and with the environment. Using combinations of interdisciplinary approaches in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, computational and mathematical modelling, and theoretical approaches, we can understand, predict, and ultimately control complex biological systems.

Here, we introduce the section Systems Microbiology. The scope of the section includes topics on microbial interactions at the single cell and/or at the microbial community level using omics and/or meta-omics, bioinformatics and mathematical approaches, integrating and analyzing complex data sets (phenomics, genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics) to develop mechanistic models, and development of bioinformatics and statistics tools for complex systems modelling and novel approaches to microbiome analysis. The editorial board will review all manuscripts submitted for publication in this section. However, articles that seem to be outside the scope of the subject matter listed here may be referred to another section of Microorganisms.
