Best Paper Award

The Pathogens Best Paper Award is granted annually to highlight publications of high quality, scientific significance, and extensive influence. The evaluation committee members choose 4 articles of exceptional quality that were published in the journal two years prior and announce the winners online by the end of April 2025.

The Prize:
– One review award: CHF 500 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Pathogens in 2025 after peer review;
– Three research article awards:
First prize: CHF 500 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Pathogens in 2025 after peer review;
Second prize: CHF 300 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Pathogens in 2025 after peer review;
Third prize: CHF 200 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Pathogens in 2025 after peer review;
– Each winner will also receive a certificate.

Eligibility and Requirements

– All papers published in Pathogens will be eligible (both regular and Special Issue submissions).

Selection Criteria

– The scientific merit and broad impact of the work;
– The originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented;
– The creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts;
– The clarity of presentation;
– The citations and downloads.
