Dear Colleagues,
With more than 70 species of protozoan and helminth parasites, human infection via food and water is of serious concern. These foodborne and waterborne parasitic infections have a huge impact on public health and economic activities.
A deep understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenicity of harmful foodborne parasites, as well as host response, may help to develop alternative and effective intervention strategies in food- and waterborne parasite control. This Special Issue will focus on the mechanisms of host–parasite interaction, understanding the strategies developed by these pathogens to facilitate their adaptation/survival, and different approaches to the treatment and control of food- and waterborne parasites.
We welcome original research and review articles addressing the following aspects:
- Advances in the study of the interaction between food- and waterborne parasites and their hosts;
- Impact of host–parasite–environment interaction on parasite transmission;
- Studies on the pathogenesis and mechanisms of food- and waterborne parasite infection;
- Different approaches to the treatment and control of food- and waterborne parasites.
