Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Special Issue, entitled “Advanced Processes for Bioenergy and Biofuel Production”, focuses on the latest advancements in the methods and technologies used to produce energy and fuels from biological sources. It includes a broad range of topics, including the development and optimization of biochemical and thermochemical conversion processes, innovative approaches to biomass pretreatment, and the enhancement of microbial and enzymatic systems for improved efficiency. The most known and popular biofuels for bioenergy are charcoal, biochar, biodiesel, bioethanol, biobutanol, pyrolysis and liquefaction bio-oils, synthesis gas (syngas), biogas, and biohydrogen. This Special Issue also explores environmental and lifecycle assessments. In bringing together cutting-edge research and case studies, this Special Issue aims to advance the understanding and application of bioenergy and biofuel technologies, contributing to the global transition towards renewable energy sources.

Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Bioenergy and biofuel demands for net zero;
  • Sustainable bioenergy for climate changes mitigation;
  • Algal biofuels;
  • Waste to biofuel;
  • Photobioreactors for biofuel production;
  • Synthetic biology for biofuel production;
  • Bioenergy systems combination.

I am pleased to invite you to contribute to a special edition of our esteemed Processes journal on the topic “Advanced Processes for Bioenergy and Biofuel Production”. This Special Issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research and developments in the field, highlighting innovative approaches, technologies, and methodologies that shape the future of bioenergy and biofuel production.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
