About Regional Science and Environmental Economics

Aims and Scope

The primary concern of Regional Science and Environmental Economics (RSEE) (ISSN 3042-4658) is the development and application of theories and methods to regional studies and environmental economics issues and problems. The journal publishes original research spanning the economic, social, and political dimensions of urban and regional change, as well as resource and environmental economics. The journal seeks significant contributions that can be theoretical or empirical, positive or normative. To be considered for publication in RSEE, papers must present carefully identified empirical findings, insightful theoretical analyses, or innovative methodologies that are novel and of broad interest to their readership. The journal is a pluralist forum, which showcases diverse perspectives and analytical techniques. RSEE also offers Special Issues and sections dedicated to high-quality topical papers or conference proceedings. Recognizing that the boundaries of regional science and environmental economics are subjective and continually evolving, RSEE welcomes submissions on a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Regional growth theory and methods;
  • Regional system modelling and optimization;
  • Regional development policy;
  • Regional spatial evolution;
  • Environmental policy and instrument choice;
  • Environmental behavior;
  • Environmental regulation and quality indicators;
  • Climate change;
  • Renewable and non-renewable resource management and policy;
  • Resource pricing and the valuation of environmental goods;
  • Social, economic and policy aspects of environmental economic;

Topics at the intersection of regional and environmental economics and development economics, labor economics, public economics, quantitative economics, comparative economics, health economics, or international economics.

Interdisciplinary work from diverse teams of researchers is also encouraged, provided that the primary contribution focuses on economic questions. Authors are required to provide a statement of novelty and relevance, indicating how their results are original in relation to the current state of the field, relevant to advancing knowledge in environmental management, and applicable to wider audiences and broader contexts.
