Dear Colleagues,
Today, we live in a world of sensors (such as temperature sensors, accelerometers, infrared sensors, pressure sensors, light sensors, ultrasonic sensors, gas sensors, humidity sensors, position sensors, magnetic sensors, flow and level sensors, strain and weight sensors, image sensors, LiDAR sensors, etc.). Different types of sensors can be found in our homes, offices, cars, and factories for various purposes, such as turning on lights by detecting our presence, adjusting the room temperature using air conditioning, detecting smoke or fires for safe reasons, taking pictures using CCD cameras, opening garage doors as cars approach them, driving cars and airplanes automatically, and so on. Over the past few decades, sensors have improved manufacturing technologies in industry sectors and changed the lifestyles of human beings. Due to the development of autonomous vehicles and electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing technologies in industry, many semiconductor sensors have gained great momentum. Furthermore, MEMS sensors made using bulk semiconductor processing technology are used to design different sensors.
This Special Issue will explore all types of sensors devices or materials and their optical and electronic characteristics. We aim to address new trends in the materials, theory, and applications of recent optoelectronic technologies and semiconductor materials and devices.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Emerging optoelectronic materials and devices;
- New designs and fabrication techniques of sensor devices;
- Emerging semiconductor materials for sensors;
- New optical and electronic characteristics for sensors;
- New advances in photovoltaics and photodetectors;
- Reliability and lifetime testing of optoelectronic devices and sensors;
- Recent trends in semiconductor sensors and systems;
- Recent trends in MEMS sensor design and manufacturing.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
