Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been widely used in different applications ranging from catalytic, photocatalytic, drug delivery, gene delivery, tissue engineering, and biosensors, due to their significant porosity, good morphology, ability to functionalize, ability to have modified zeta potential, etc. Furthermore, the toxicity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability of the MOFs could be optimizable in different microenvironments through cost-effective, green, and scalable methods. The surface of MOFs could be modifiable with different ligands/linkers/small molecules in order to be sensitized to pre-determined sequences/biomarkers; therefore, they have been widely used as optical and electrochemical probes for the detection of different biomarkers. In this Special Issue, the aim is to study advanced functional MOFs that can identify specific biomarkers in various environments by optical and electrochemical methods. To this aim, a mixture of formats for manuscripts including original research, mini-reviews, and perspective articles are welcomed.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
