Societal Responses to Climate Change: Shaping Public Discourse and Policy

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a call for academic papers on the topic of "Societal Responses to Climate Change: Shaping Public Discourse and Policy". As the global climate crisis unfolds, understanding how societies respond, engage, and mobilize to address climate change is crucial. The various social sciences disciplines play a significant role in exploring the complex interactions between individuals, communities, and private and public institutions.

This call invites scholars from various disciplines, including sociology, environmental studies, political science, public policy, business, and related fields, to collaborate and contribute research and insights on the multifaceted dimensions of societal responses to climate change. We welcome empirical research papers, theoretical contributions, policy analyses, case studies, and interdisciplinary works that will provide fresh perspectives on the interplay between society, the economy, and the environment for public discourse and policy formation in the context of climate change.

Papers published under this Special Issue will contribute to the academic understanding of societal responses to climate change by developing theory and informing policy, practitioners, and activists. We expect that this collection of papers will advance our knowledge of how various academic fields shape public discourse and policy, ultimately leading to more effective responses and sustainable solutions.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Societal responses to climate change across different levels: public and private sectors as well as local, regional, and global movements;
• Academic discourse of sociology and climate change: theoretical frameworks, conceptual models, and approaches;
• Public discourse on climate change: analyses, formulations, and implementation of policy initiatives;
• Community and indigenous movements as a response to climate change: public attitudes, behaviours, values, and motivations.

Economic and social transitions for climate resilience.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as conceptual papers are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Societies is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
