Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Evaluation Committee, I am pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Sustainability Travel Awards. In the aim of helping PhD students or postdoctoral fellows in sustainable environment, sustainable economy, sustainable energy, and sustainable urban communities travel to an international scientific meeting of their choice in 2019, the Travel Awards have been granted to the following exceptional individuals:

Hao Li, a PhD student from University of Texas at Austin, will attend the ‘3rd International Conference on Catalysis and Chemical Engineering’, 25–27 February 2019, in Houston TX, USA, to present his research, via the following paper: “Rational Design of High-Performance Environmentally Sustainable Catalysts: A Fast Theoretical Guide to Experiments”.

Francesco Aletta is a Post-doctoral fellow from University College London. He will attend the conference ‘23rd International Congress On Acoustics (ICA 2019)’ to present his research, via the following paper: “Positive health-related effects of experiencing urban soundscapes: A systematic review”.

Monika Egerer is a PhD student from University of California. Her research involves ecology and agroecology; biodiversity and ecosystem services; urban ecology; climate change and sustainable food systems. She will attend the ‘International Association for Landscape Ecology (iale) World Congress’ in July 2019 in Milano, Italy.

Claudia Schwirplies, a Post-doctoral fellow from Universität Hamburg, will attend ‘Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economist (EAERE)’, 26–29 June 2019, in Manchester, UK. She will present her paper “Meaty arguments: Field experimental evidence on the effectiveness of different reasons to reduce meat consumption”.

With many high-quality applications for the awards, the evaluation and decision process was difficult, and we would like to thank all applicants for submitting their diverse and fascinating range of research topics. On behalf of all at Sustainability, I congratulate the winners for their accomplishments.
