Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Industrial logistics is a part of the supply chain and includes infrastructure, equipment, resources and operational strategies to manage the flow of products and related information. Logistics is, therefore, concerned with transportation management, goods storage, inventory management and order organization for on-time delivery in line with business strategies.

The supply chain, on the other hand, includes the entire lifecycle of a product: from the selection and purchase of raw materials, through processing/production to delivery to the end customer and after-sales service.

The effectiveness of process optimization is closely related to the integration of logistics into the entire supply chain.

Although the literature has discussed various ways to increase the effectiveness of a single company that is a part of the network system, it fails to capture a holistic view of the supply chain network. To analyze this topic, systematic literature reviews (SLRs) are needed to obtain comprehensive coverage and analysis of the related literature. As a result, these SLR could be used to identify the most interesting publications, the authors involved and techniques to investigate in the near future. We are interested in understanding whether there is a well-defined resilience framework; whether there are procedures to assess or measure the resilience capabilities of a supply chain; what modeling and simulation techniques are in use; and what should be investigated in the near future.

Suggested themes:

  • Supply chain management decision-making and strategies;
  • Simulation modeling to manage scenario analysis;
  • Reverse logistics operations;
  • Operational sustainability;
  • Environmental and energy impacts;
  • Social impacts;
  • Economic effects of network strategies;
  • Modeling and Simulation.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
