Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global food system is facing the dual need to feed a growing population and minimize environmental degradation. In response, there is growing recognition of the necessity for sustainable production and consumption practices that balance food security with environmental protection. Recent innovations in the food sector offer promising opportunities for improving sustainability in food production, processing, supply, and marketing. However, the adoption of these advances, such as artificial intelligence, depends on their economic viability and the capacity in which they can be incorporated into existing food systems.
This Special Issue, titled “Sustainable Production and Consumption in Global Food Systems: Innovations and Socioeconomic Implications”, aims to explore how innovations in the food sector can be helpful in providing support the sustainability of the entire food system. The focus is on understanding the socioeconomic implications of sustainable practices, from farm-level innovations to marketing and policy strategies, and how these can collectively contribute to more resilient and sustainable food systems.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Economic viability of sustainable agricultural and manufacturing practices;
- Socioeconomic impacts of sustainable practices;
- Consumer behavior and sustainable food marketing;
- Food supply chain dynamics and sustainability;
- Impact of policy and regulation on sustainable food systems;
- Market incentives and barriers for sustainable products;
- Development of sustainability metrics and assessment tools;
- Case studies of successful sustainable food systems.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
