Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Energy transition refers to the entire energy sector and represents the shift from fossil fuel-based energy production systems to renewable energy sources, like wind and solar. Since both wind and solar are intermittent sources of energy, this transition needs to develop storage devices, like batteries and thermochemical, or systems to manage energy vectors, like eletrolyzers and fuel cells. This Special Issue focuses on the sustainability of this gradual and steady shift towards a zero-carbon approach expected to take place by 2050.

Main topics: sustainability of renewable energy production; electrolyzers; fuel cells; batteries; energy storage systems; carbon capture; hydrogen; ammonia; solar photovoltaic.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
