Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a call for papers for a Special Issue on "Industrial Digital Transformation and Sustainable Innovation Development". This issue aims to gather the most recent academic research on the intersection of digital transformation and sustainable innovation in the industrial sector.

Digital transformation advancements and growing attention to sustainable practices provoke significant changes in the industrial landscape (Kunkel and Matthess, 2020; Casciani et al., 2022). The adoption of digital technologies has the potential to drive sustainable innovation and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and resilient industrial sector (Pierli et al., 2023). However, the interplay between digital transformation and sustainable innovation is complex and multifaceted, and challenges and trade-offs between digital transformation and sustainability are emerging. For these reasons there is a need for further research to understand the dynamics and future trends of the ecosystem that is under development.

We invite submissions of original research articles that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • The role of digital technologies in driving sustainable innovation in the industrial sector.
  • The impact of digital transformation on the sustainability of industrial processes and practices.
  • The challenges and opportunities of integrating digital technologies and sustainable innovation in the industrial sector.
  • Case studies of successful digital transformation and sustainable innovation initiatives in the industrial sector.

Submissions should be based on rigorous research and provide new insights into the relationship between digital transformation and sustainable innovation in the industrial sector. Both theoretical and empirical contributions are welcome.

We look forward to receiving valuable research and advancing the scientific discussion on this important topic.
