Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The digital economy is playing an increasingly important role in sustainable resource risk management. By leveraging digital technologies and tools, we can more effectively monitor, assess, and manage the use of natural resources and their associated risks. However, we also recognize that while the digital economy promotes sustainable development, it may introduce some challenges. For example, certain digital activities, such as data centers’ high energy consumption, may hinder carbon emission management, thereby negatively affecting sustainable development. There is still a lack of comprehensive research on how the digital economy specifically impacts sustainable resource risk management. It is crucial to explore the potential of the digital economy to enhance transparency in resource management, improve the efficiency of resource utilization, mitigate environmental risks, and safeguard the interests of future generations.

This Special Issue aims to gather original research articles on the role of the digital economy in sustainable resource risk management. We especially welcome interdisciplinary research, covering, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • The impact of digital infrastructure development on resource management and sustainability;
  • The role of digital platforms in improving resource allocation and efficiency in various industries;
  • Applications of the digital economy in enhancing supply chain transparency and reducing environmental impacts;
  • The effect of e-commerce and online marketplaces on sustainable resource use and waste reduction;
  • How digital education tools can promote sustainable practices in resource management;
  • The role of the gig economy in shaping sustainable resource consumption patterns;
  • The environmental impact of digital infrastructure, including data centers and cloud computing, on carbon emissions and resource use;
  • Analysis of how digital economic activities influence energy consumption and sustainability practices;
  • Ethical and social considerations in the digital economy related to resource management;
  • Strategies and innovations in the digital economy to reduce its environmental footprint and promote sustainability.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
