Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The focus on sustainable growth and development in recent years has been intense, and rightly so. The impacts of global warming and the ongoing climate crisis are important aspects of sustainable development.

Fortunately, the research, policies, popular sentiment, and industrial progress all acknowledge and drive the push for sustainable development. There is currently a great deal of attention being given to hydrogen as a clean carbon-free fuel source. Hydrogen is vital to our energy and chemicals industry space as well, and strategies are being built to generate hydrogen using clean technologies. There are also efforts to develop the hydrogen economy and infrastructure with clean resources in a net-zero emissions context.

This Special Issue serves as a platform to host research and develop a comprehensive collection of works related to sustainability analyses of hydrogen fuel production, storage, and utilization. The Issue welcomes all works relating to life cycle assessment, life cycle cost analysis and environmental profile development for hydrogen production methods, both pioneering new production technologies at the pilot or bench scale as well those relating to large-scale big data sets. Any aspect of production, storage and utilization or their combination thereof is appreciated.

We invite works addressing life cycle analysis for hydrogen application in a variety of fields, such as refinery, chemicals, nuclear and metallurgy, among others. Similarly, singular works providing insights into infrastructure, logistics and storage are also welcome in this Special Issue.

The authors are welcome to reach out with their submissions on any of the topics or others that may be suitable for the theme.

We look forward to producing a wholesome catalog of work and enabling the dynamic exchange of knowledge.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
