Dear Colleagues,
Sustainability by design aims to embed sustainability into an organization's current activities to drive added value creation, as well as achieve a sustainable impact. All this favours managerial creativity in adopting the best business strategies and solutions.
We aim to systematically promote the integration of environmental capabilities, the incorporation of digital technologies into products and services, and employee- and customer-oriented social responsibility. Process development strategies and solutions must focus on supporting the achievement of organizational innovation goals. We call this sustainability by design, and it is a new way of delivering value, in which the UN Sustainable Development Goals provide the direction. We must put sustainability at the heart of everything we do, from how we think about driving innovation and assessing the risks of product improvement to identifying opportunities to reduce costs and increase revenue.
This Special Issue aims to highlight contributions that promote sustainability by design. Original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Innovative solutions that incorporate sustainability in supply, production, and distribution processes in industry and services.
- The development of ecological software and engineering that contribute to the sectoral objectives of reducing greenhouse emissions.
- Green cloud solutions that support organizations in making sustainability-based decisions for cloud migration.
- Economic sustainability, which defines appropriate cost levels and structures through green software practices and the use of renewable energy that aims to save costs and promotes sustainability.
- Fulfilling sustainability promises by integrating sustainability into corporate strategies and unlocking shared value for both the organization and society.
- Sustainability learning at scale and speed that embeds a sustainability mindset throughout the company.
- Sustainability at the heart of innovation which brings together the capabilities of the entire organization to develop disruptive innovations at scale and enables the achievement of organizational goals.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
