Viruses of Microbes 2023
The series of biannual conferences on Viruses of Microbes, which was launched in Paris in 2010 and has since then travelled all around Europe, will reach Tbilisi in 2023. The organizers are delighted to announce this conference, which will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 3–7 July 2023. The conference marks a new era in viral research which has begun with the recognition of viruses of microorganisms—viruses of bacteria, archaea, and microbial eukaryotes—as predominant component of the biosphere and led to the identification of these viruses as major players in the global ecology, public health, microbial physiology, and evolution.
The conference will serve as a platform for discussions on all aspects of studies on viruses of bacteria, archaea, and unicellular eukaryotes, including new views on virus taxonomy, and ranging from the role and diversity of viruses in different ecosystems to the development of virus-inspired new technologies.
Prospective authors are kindly encouraged to contribute to and help to shape the conference through submissions of their research abstracts. High-quality research contributions describing original and unpublished results of conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental, or theoretical work in all areas of Viruses of Microbes are cordially invited for presentation at the conference.
Special sessions will be dedicated to:
- Evolution and taxonomy of microbial viruses;
- Diversity and ecology I: viruses of bacteria and archaea;
- Diversity and ecology II: viruses of microbial eukaryotes;
- Virus-host interactions I: viruses of bacteria and archaea;
- Virus-host Interactions II: viruses of microbial eukaryotes;
- Structural virology;
- Current state and latest developments in therapeutical application of bacteriophages;
- New bio-/nanotechnologies inspired by microbial viruses.
