Background/Objectives: Despite the bidirectional relationship between diabetes and periodontal disease, dental hygienists’ role in diabetes screening remains underexplored in Japan. Previous studies have not examined the relationship between attitudes and actual screening practices. This study aimed to assess dental hygienists’ attitudes regarding diabetes screening and medical–dental collaboration, examine current practices, and investigate the association between attitudes and practices. Methods: A nationwide cross-sectional survey was conducted among dental hygienists from 1340 dental clinics using stratified random sampling. Participants completed an anonymous questionnaire assessing attitudes (4-point Likert scale) and screening practices (4-point frequency scale). Exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis examined attitude–practice associations. Results: Of 1340 surveys distributed, 95 valid responses were obtained (response rate: 7.2%). Participants showed low implementation rates for lifestyle and physical sign assessment in diabetes (below 35%, except thirst: 68.4%) but moderate-to-high rates for medical history evaluation (44.2–75.8%). Multiple regression analysis revealed that lack of confidence and knowledge in diabetes management was negatively associated with both lifestyle assessment (β = −0.38; 95% CI −0.72 to −0.23) and medical history evaluation (β = −0.55; 95% CI −0.63 to −0.32). Desire to participate in diabetes education was positively associated with medical history evaluation (β = 0.21; 95% CI 0.24 to 4.38). Conclusions: Despite low response rate limiting generalizability, this first nationwide Japanese survey indicates that confidence and knowledge deficits significantly hinder diabetes screening practices. Targeted educational interventions could enhance screening implementation and strengthen medical–dental collaboration, improving early diabetes detection. Full article

Objective: Recent work has challenged the notion that preferred substrate oxidation is a key determinant of exercise performance. This investigation tested middle-distance running performance, in the fed state, to control for glycogen and exercise-induced hypoglycemia (EIH) confounders. Methods: In a randomized crossover fashion, all while controlling dietary intake, activity, and body weight, recreational distance runners completed either a 5K (n = 15; VO2max: 58.3 ± 6.2 mL/kg/min) or a 10K (n = 15; VO2max: 54.51 ± 5.9 mL/kg/min) middle-distance run after consuming isocaloric low-carbohydrate high-fat (LCHF) and high-carbohydrate low-fat (HCLF) pre-exercise meals. Time trial (TT) performance (sec), carbohydrate/fat substrate oxidation, blood metabolites, heart rate (HR), ratings of perceived exertion (RPE), and subjective fullness and thirst were measured throughout. Results: LCHF pre-exercise nutrition reliably altered substrate oxidation and metabolite profiles compared to HCLF, evidenced by significant increases in fat oxidation (77% higher) and reductions in RER (5% lower), with corresponding shifts in carbohydrate oxidation. Despite distinct preferred substrate oxidation profiles during exercise, the 5 and 10 km TT performances were similar between conditions (p = 0.646/p = 0.118). RER was significantly lower (p = 0.002) after the LCHF condition compared to HCLF. Capillary R-βHB increased modestly after LCHF, while blood glucose increased after HCLF only. The LCHF meal was 35% more filling than the HCLF meal. Preferred substrate oxidation did not significantly modulate middle-distance running performance. Conclusion: This work supports recent findings that substrate oxidation is not a primary determinant of aerobic performance, as previously conceived. Full article

Thirst is usually characterized as an unpleasant sensation provoking drinking of water. The purpose of the present review is to draw attention to the importance of thirst in overall regulation of body fluid homeostasis in health and pathology. Intensity of thirst is determined by signals generated in multiple groups of osmosensitive neurons engaged in dipsogenic and antidipsogenic activities, which are located in the brain cortex, the insula, the amygdala, the median preoptic area, the hypothalamic nuclei and the organum vasculosum laminae terminalis. Water ingestion is also influenced by signals generated in the cardiovascular system, the gastrointestinal system, the pancreas, the liver and the kidney and by changes of body temperature. Regulation of thirst engages the autonomic nervous system and several neuroactive factors synthetized in the brain and the peripheral organs. Among them are components of the renin–angiotensin system, vasopressin, atrial natriuretic peptide, cholecystokinin, ghrelin, gaseous transmitters, cytokines and prostaglandins. Experimental studies provide evidence that elevation of fluid osmolality, which is the most frequent cause of thirst, influences function of the voltage-gated sodium channel and calcium-dependent kinase II subunit alpha. Regulation of thirst may be inappropriate in old age and under some pathological conditions including infections, heart failure, diabetes insipidus, diabetes mellitus, and psychogenic disorders. The molecular background of the abnormal regulation of thirst in the clinical disorders is not yet sufficiently recognized and requires further examination. Full article

Background: Dehydration is a prevalent and potentially serious condition, particularly affecting vulnerable populations such as children and older adults. Prompt recognition and intervention are critical for preventing associated complications. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted, registered in PROSPERO (CRD42024594780), to identify key clinical and demographic risk factors associated with dehydration. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library was performed for studies published between 2000 and 2024. The risk of bias in included studies was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale and the Cochrane Risk-of-Bias (RoB) tool. Ten studies met the inclusion criteria for quantitative synthesis. Based on pooled diagnostic metrics, a preliminary scoring tool was developed for dehydration risk stratification. Results: The pooled sensitivity and specificity of common clinical signs, such as thirst, dry mouth, and dark urine, were 85% (95% CI: 80–90%) and 70% (95% CI: 65–75%), respectively. The positive predictive value (PPV) was 75%, and the negative predictive value (NPV) was 80%. Pediatric subgroup analysis yielded the most robust data, while data for adult and elderly populations were limited. A conceptual risk scoring system was proposed based on relative diagnostic utility, though it has not yet been externally validated. Conclusions: Simple clinical signs demonstrate reasonable diagnostic accuracy for identifying individuals at risk of dehydration. The proposed scoring system offers a promising, evidence-informed framework for early risk assessment but requires further validation in prospective studies before integration into clinical practice. Purpose: To investigate whether mild hypohydration in lightweight rowers compromises rowing performance despite a two-hour rehydration window. Methods: Experienced varsity rowers [11 male (82.3 ± 26.2 kg, age = 21.3 ± 4.0 years, height = 184.7 ± 2.4 cm) and three female (62.1 ± 11.8 kg, 2.3 ± 4.2 years, 166.4 ± 16.2 cm)] performed a 2000 m rowing ergometer time trial and visuomotor battery twice: once euhydrated and once after mild dehydration. Weight loss (−1.68 ± 0.23% body mass reduction) was achieved through a combination of 12 h (abstinence) of fluid and food restriction and sauna exposure. Results: Participants were significantly slower on the 2000 m rowing trial in the hypohydration condition than in the euhydration condition (+2.44 ± 4.5 s, p < 0.05). Hierarchical linear regression analyses revealed that this rowing performance decrement was explained by hypohydration achieved overnight through fluid abstinence (r2 = 0.504, p < 0.01) but not by hypohydration achieved in the sauna (r2 = 0.025, n.s.), corroborating our previous finding. This analysis also revealed a relationship between hypohydration-related rowing performance decrements and hypohydration-related changes in visuomotor function (r2 = 0.310, p < 0.01). Conclusions: These findings suggest that rowing time trial performance can be negatively affected by relatively small changes in hydration status and that the method by which hypohydration is achieved is important. Rowing performance losses were explained by hypohydration due to prolonged fluid abstinence and by hypohydration-related changes to neural control of movement. Performance losses were not related to rapid sauna-based fluid loss. Full article

This article investigates the institutional and informational foundations of water governance in Southern Europe amid escalating climate stress. Focusing on Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greece, it develops a multi-level analytical framework to explore how information asymmetries and governance fragmentation undermine coordinated responses to water scarcity. Integrating theories of information economics, polycentric governance, and critical institutionalism, this study applies a stylized economic model and comparative institutional analysis to assess how agents—such as farmers, utilities, regulators, and civil society—respond to varying incentives, data access, and coordination structures. Using secondary data, normalized indicators, and scenario-based simulations, the model identifies three key structural parameters—institutional friction (θi), information cost (βi), and incentive strength (αi)—as levers for governance reform. The simulations are stylized and not empirically calibrated, serving as heuristic tools rather than predictive forecasts. The results show that isolated interventions yield limited improvements, while combined reforms significantly enhance both equity and effectiveness. Climate stress simulations further reveal stark differences in institutional resilience, with Greece and Italy showing systemic fragility and Portugal emerging as comparatively robust. This study contributes a flexible, policy-relevant tool for diagnosing governance capacity and informing reform strategies while also underscoring the need for integrated, equity-oriented approaches to adaptive water governance. Background: Modulating ethanol metabolism and attenuating alcohol-induced oxidative stress are promising therapeutic strategies for reducing the severity of hangovers and alleviating their associated physiological burden. Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the probiotic strain Leuconostoc mesenteroides VITA-PB2 on ethanol metabolism, oxidative stress, and hangover-related symptoms in 28 healthy adults. The participants consumed either VITA-PB2 or a placebo before standardized alcohol intake, with a 7-day washout period and subsequent crossover. Primary outcomes included blood ethanol, acetaldehyde levels, and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activity. Secondary outcomes measured hangover severity assessed by the Acute Hangover Scale (AHS), liver enzymes including aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), oxidative stress indicators reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO), and antioxidant responses measured by glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase, and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging capacity. Results: VITA-PB2 supplementation led to a sustained reduction in blood ethanol concentrations beginning at 0.5 h post-ingestion compared with the placebo group, indicating more efficient ethanol clearance. Additionally, VITA-PB2 significantly reduced acetaldehyde levels at 1 h post-ingestion (p < 0.05) and increased ALDH activity by 42.15% at 30 min (p < 0.05). It also markedly reduced ROS levels at 1 h (p < 0.05), enhanced glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity at 2 h (p < 0.01), and significantly improved the subjective hangover symptoms, particularly thirst (p < 0.05). Conclusions: No adverse effects were reported during the trial, indicating that Leuconostoc mesenteroides VITA-PB2 is a safe probiotic. These findings suggest its efficacy in mitigating alcohol-induced oxidative stress and alleviating hangover-related symptoms. Full article

This case describes a rare presentation of hypodipsia in a 7-month-old female Labrador Retriever, attributed to congenital corpus callosum dysplasia and holoprosencephaly. Chronic hypernatremia in the patient was consistently associated with severe hyperlipemia, which was further complicated by hemorrhagic enteritis and sepsis-associated liver dysfunction. Persistent hyperlipemia was observed during the hypernatremic crisis but resolved following the restoration of adequate water intake and the subsequent correction of hypernatremia. The association between hyperlipemia and hypernatremia is unusual, with only a limited number of cases reported in pediatric patients and a single canine case involving encephalic lymphosarcoma. The hemorrhagic enteritis observed in this patient was suspected to be a complication of the chronic hypernatremic and hyperlipidemic state. This report explores the relevant literature and proposes potential pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the interplay between these clinical findings and altered thirst regulation caused by corpus callosum dysplasia. Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) guidelines recommend preoperative carbohydrate loading; however, local hospitals often use syrup concentrate sweet drinks rather than specialized carbohydrate formulations. We compared gastric emptying, glycemic response, and fasting discomfort of a novel carbohydrate drink versus syrup concentrate sweet drinks. Methods: In this pilot randomized, crossover trial at Prince of Songkla University Hospital, Thailand, 16 healthy volunteers received three interventions with a 1-week washout period: novel carbohydrate drink 400 mL (C400), novel carbohydrate drink 250 mL (C250), and syrup sweet drink 250 mL (SYR). The primary outcome was gastric antral cross-sectional area (CSA) measured using ultrasonography at baseline, 10, 60, 120, and 180 min post-ingestion. Secondary outcomes included glycemic response and visual analog scales for thirst and hunger. Results: All drinks showed comparable gastric CSA, peaking at 10 min (5.5–6.5 cm2, p < 0.01) and returning to baseline by 120 min. Novel carbohydrate drinks produced higher glucose peaks at 60 min (C400: 147.4 mg/dL [28.0]; C250: 148.7 mg/dL [21.7]) than SYR (123.1 mg/dL [22.4], p = 0.006) with sustained elevation through 120 min. All drinks similarly reduced thirst and mouth dryness scores at 60 min (p < 0.05), though hunger increased progressively after 120 min across all groups. Conclusions: Both 400 mL and 250 mL volumes of novel carbohydrate drinks demonstrated safe gastric emptying profiles comparable to syrup concentrate sweet drinks while providing more sustained glycemic responses. Introduction: Oral rehydration reduces thirst sensation (TS), which may negatively affect autonomic function, measured by heart-rate variability (HRV). However, it is unclear if this effect is independent of hydration changes. This study examines whether TS influences autonomic function between intravenous and oral rehydration. Methods: Twelve males (mean ± SD; age, 29 ± 12 years; 74.7 ± 7.9 kg; 179.4 ± 7.0 cm; VO2max, 49.8± 6.6 mL·kg−1·min−1) cycled at 55% VO2max for 90 min followed by a 12 km time trial. Two experimental conditions were performed in a counterbalanced, randomized order; (a) the high thirst (HT) group were infused 25 mL of isotonic saline every 5 min via an intravenous tube, and (b) the low thirst (LT) group ingested 25 mL of water every 5 min. TS and heart rate were collected every 5 min. HRV was assessed pre exercise, post steady-state exercise, and post time trial. HRV parameters included time domain, frequency domain, and non-linear measures analyzed by two-way repeated measures ANOVA. Results: There was a significant time x condition for the root mean square of successive RR interval differences (RMSSDlog), high-frequency (HF) power, and SD1 (p < 0.05). In LT, RMSSDlog decreased from Pre to Mid (3.71 ± 0.61 ms to 2.53 ± 1.15 ms, p < 0.01) and Pre to Post (2.18 ± 0.90 ms, p < 0.01) but stabilized from Mid to Post (p = 0.39). High-frequency (HF) power in HT was maintained from Pre (3.7 ± 0.6 nu) to Mid (3.4 ± 0.8 nu, p = 0.21) but decreased from Pre to Post (2.5 ± 0.7 nu, p < 0.01) and Mid to Post (p < 0.01). LT decreased in HF power from Pre (3.7 ± 0.5 nu) to Mid (3.0 ± 0.8 nu, p < 0.01) and Pre to Post (3.0 ± 0.7 nu, p < 0.01); Mid and Post was maintained (p = 0.99). SD1, decreased in HT (Pre: 3.4 ± 0.4 ms, Mid: 2.0 ± 1.1 ms, Post: 1.1 ± 0.5 ms; all comparisons p < 0.05). In LT, SD1 decreased from Pre (3.4 ± 0.6 ms) to Mid (2.18 ± 1.15 ms, p < 0.01) and Pre to Post (1.83 ± 0.90 ms, p < 0.01), but stabilized Mid to Post (p = 0.39). Conclusion: Satiating thirst through oral rehydration increases parasympathetic activity post exercise, reducing stress and increasing recovery between exercise bouts. These findings have implications for optimizing rehydration strategies in sports and occupational settings. Full article

Impact of a Fish-Based Restrictive Ketogenic Diet on Body Composition and Strength Capacity: A Pre–Post Study

Background: The ketogenic diet (KD) is becoming a popular nutritional model for athletes. One limitation of this diet is the use of animal-meat products, which may be unacceptable to some people. Moreover, the relationship between this diet’s use, body composition, and strength capacity has not been thoroughly investigated. This study aimed to assess the effects of a two-week fish-based restrictive KD on body composition, strength capacity (isometric muscle strength), and somatic disorders in healthy adults. Methods: Participants were recruited through advertisements, posters displayed at the university, and information shared among colleagues. Ultimately, 14 individuals qualified for this study. For two weeks, they followed a designated ketogenic diet enriched with fish and omega-3 fatty acids, with a calorie reduction of −500 kcal/day. The study was designed and conducted as a single-group pre–post study. Before and after completing the diet, participants’ body composition (body mass, body fat, fat-free mass, and visceral fat) and strength capacity (knee extensor peak torque [KEPT] and knee flexor peak torque [KFPT]) were measured. The survey also analyzed participants’ somatic disorders such as nausea, vomiting, energy level, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, sleep problems, hunger, thirst, and bad breath. The average results of both trials obtained before and after the diet were compared using the paired Student’s t-test or non-parametric test. The significance level was set at 0.05. Results: After two weeks of a fish-based restrictive KD, significant increases in ketone bodies were observed in both the blood (pre: 0.21 mmol/L ± 0.15 vs. post: 2.20 ± 1.19, p < 0.001) and urine (pre: 0.00 mmol/L ± 0.00 vs. post: 4.64 mmol/L ± 3.24, p < 0.001). Body composition changes included significant reductions in total body mass (pre: 76.66 kg ± 11.06 vs. post: 73.77 kg ± 10.76, p < 0.001), fat mass (pre: 21.34 kg ± 7.36 vs. post: 19.73 kg ± 7.20, p < 0.001), and visceral fat (pre: 708.50 g ± 627.67 vs. post: 603.21 g ± 567.82, p = 0.0012). Skeletal muscle mass decreased by 2% (pre: 27.75 kg ± 5.80 vs. post: 27.03 kg ± 5.47, p = 0.01), though no significant changes were seen in muscle strength when adjusting for body mass or skeletal muscle mass. No major adverse effects were noted in relation to somatic disorders, although some participants reported increased thirst and bad breath. Conclusions: After 14 days of a fish-based restrictive KD, a significant reduction in body mass and changes in body composition were observed, with no loss of muscle strength. This type of diet may serve as an effective method for rapid body mass reduction in sports with weight categories, while preserving muscle strength, which is crucial for athletes. It could also be an alternative means for individuals to eliminate animal meat from their diet. Full article

Aging involves progressive physiological changes, including the dysregulation of water homeostasis, essential for cellular function, neuronal signaling, and musculoskeletal integrity. This review explores the emerging role of water loss as a central and underestimated driver of functional decline in aging, with a focus on the dog, both as a clinically relevant target species and as a model for human aging. Age-related alterations in water metabolism—driven by changes in body composition, aquaporin (AQP) expression, electrolyte imbalances, reduced thirst perception, and impaired urine concentration—lead to intracellular and extracellular dehydration, exacerbating functional decline. We examine molecular mechanisms of water regulation involving AQPs and osmolytes, and describe how dehydration contributes to structural and metabolic dysfunction across key biological compartments, including the kidney, brain, bone, and skeletal muscle. Physiological dehydration, a hallmark of aging, intensifies inflammaging, accelerating tissue degeneration. In particular, we highlight how water loss impairs solvent capacity, solute transport, protein conformation, and cellular communication. Despite the known role of macronutrients in geriatric nutrition, hydration remains an often-overlooked factor in aging management. We argue for its inclusion as a fourth pillar in the nutritional approach to veterinary geriatrics, alongside protein, fat, and fiber. By investigating aging-associated water loss in dogs—species that share environments and lifestyle patterns with humans—we propose hydration-centered strategies to promote healthy aging in both veterinary and comparative medicine. The abrupt juxtaposition of Miriam’s death and the subsequent water crisis in Num 20:1–2 invites deeper reflection on the narrative and theological significance of her role in Israel’s wilderness journey. While the biblical text provides a succinct account, the immediate onset of thirst among the Israelites suggests a profound connection between her presence and divine sustenance. This article explores the literary and theological dimensions of Miriam’s role, arguing that her death disrupts the delicate balance of Israel’s survival in the desert. Through the exegetical analysis of Num 20:1–2, this study examines the syntactical continuity that binds Miriam’s passing with the ensuing crisis. It revisits her leadership in Num 12, where her challenge to Moses highlights the complexity of wilderness leadership. Furthermore, the article engages with rabbinic interpretations that identify Miriam as Israel’s well, emphasizing the theological implications of her absence. By synthesizing biblical narrative, linguistic analysis, and Jewish exegetical traditions, this study argues that Miriam’s presence embodies Israel’s dependence on divine provision. Her death, and the drying up of water that follows, expose the fragility of both leadership and faith in the wilderness. In doing so, the article underscores how—while somehow building on the biblical text—rabbinic interpretations portray Miriam as a pivotal mediator of divine grace, whose absence precipitates a crisis of both thirst and identity. Background: Interdialytic weight gain (IDWG), defined as the accumulation of salt and water intake between dialysis sessions, is a critical parameter of fluid management and a marker of adherence to dietary and fluid restrictions in hemodialysis patients. Excessive IDWG has been strongly associated with increased cardiovascular risk, including left ventricular hypertrophy, cardiac dysfunction, and cerebrovascular complications. Additionally, it necessitates more aggressive ultrafiltration, potentially compromising hemodynamic stability, impairing quality of life, and escalating healthcare costs. Despite international guidelines recommending an IDWG target of <4–4.5% of body weight, many patients struggle to achieve this due to barriers in adhering to dietary and fluid restrictions. This review explores the current state-of-the-art strategies to mitigate IDWG and evaluates emerging diagnostic and therapeutic perspectives to improve fluid management in dialysis patients. Methods: A literature search was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science to identify studies on IDWG in hemodialysis. Keywords and MeSH terms were used to retrieve peer-reviewed articles, observational studies, RCTs, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews. Non-English articles, case reports, and conference abstracts were excluded. Study selection followed PRISMA guidelines, with independent screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts. Data extraction focused on IDWG definitions, risk factors, clinical outcomes, and management strategies. Due to study heterogeneity, a narrative synthesis was performed. Relevant data were synthesized thematically to evaluate both established strategies and emerging perspectives. Results: The current literature identifies three principal strategies for IDWG control: cognitive–behavioral interventions, dietary sodium restriction, and dialysis prescription adjustments. While educational programs and behavioral counseling improve adherence, their long-term effectiveness remains constrained by patient compliance and logistical challenges. Similarly, low-sodium diets, despite reducing thirst, face barriers to adherence and potential nutritional concerns. Adjustments in dialysate sodium concentration have yielded conflicting results, with concerns regarding hemodynamic instability and intradialytic hypotension. Given these limitations, alternative approaches are emerging. Thirst modulation strategies, including chewing gum to stimulate salivation and acupuncture for autonomic regulation, offer potential benefits in reducing excessive fluid intake. Additionally, technological innovations, such as mobile applications and telemonitoring, enhance self-management by providing real-time feedback on fluid intake. Biofeedback-driven dialysis systems enable dynamic ultrafiltration adjustments, improving fluid removal efficiency while minimizing hemodynamic instability. Artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing predictive analytics by integrating wearable bioimpedance sensors and dialysis data to anticipate fluid overload and refine individualized dialysis prescriptions, driving precision-based volume management. Finally, optimizing dialysis frequency and duration has shown promise in achieving better fluid balance and cardiovascular stability, suggesting that a personalized, multimodal approach is essential for effective IDWG management. Conclusions: Despite decades of research, IDWG remains a persistent challenge in hemodialysis, requiring a multifaceted, patient-centered approach. While traditional interventions provide partial solutions, integrating thirst modulation strategies, real-time monitoring, biofeedback dialysis adjustments, and AI-driven predictive tools represent the next frontier in fluid management. Future research should focus on long-term feasibility, patient adherence, and clinical efficacy, ensuring these innovations translate into tangible improvements in quality of life and cardiovascular health for dialysis patients. Objectives: Hydration is essential for overall health; therefore, this study aimed to identify associations between hydration status and beverage consumption, anthropometric measures, and urine biochemical analyses in Polish adults. Poland was chosen due to potential regional dietary habits and hydration patterns that may influence hydration status. Methods: A total of 337 participants completed a beverage frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Blood pressure (BP), anthropometric parameters, and body composition were measured. Urine samples were analyzed for specific gravity (USG), osmolality (Uosm), and potential hydrogen value (pH). Hydration status was assessed using the WUT model (weight, urine color, thirst level), classifying participants into two groups: dehydrated (2-3 WUT components) and properly hydrated (0-1 WUT component). Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Results: Approximately 50% of participants (n = 165) exhibited dehydration symptoms, including higher thirst levels, darker urine, and elevated USG and Uosm (p ≤ 0.05). Dehydrated individuals more frequently reported fatigue (p = 0.009), headaches (p = 0.024), and heavy legs (p = 0.002). Higher BMI (OR: 1.49), waist circumference (OR: 1.79), USG (OR: 2.29), and Uosm (OR: 1.75) increased dehydration risk. Conversely, greater consumption of tea (OR: 0.52) and non-carbonated mineral water (OR: 0.45), higher total body water (OR: 0.49), and handgrip strength (OR: 0.81) were linked to lower dehydration risk. Four dietary patterns were identified: Reasonable, Unhealthy, Minimalist, and Loving Sweet Beverages. Conclusions: Multifactorial hydration assessment, combined with preventive strategies such as regular fluid intake and weight management, may improve hydration. The WUT model and Venn diagram provide a practical tool for hydration assessment in clinical and public health. Full article
