Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to be part of an exciting Special Issue of Religions entitled "New Images of God in Contemporary Physics, Quantum Metaphysics, and Theism: Quantum God, Emptiness, Consciousness, and Energy".

Quantum reality is a mysterious domain where linear time dissolves and relative space collapses, leading to a timeless and spaceless realm. It challenges the classical intuitions of human beings in ways that are profoundly counterintuitive to the human sensory experience.

When we consider quantum reality, the assumptions of classical physics no longer hold. Classical science struggles to reconcile these two realities, meaning that it can reduce the quantum realm to mathematical abstractions and measurements and overlook the deeper and mysterious aspects of existence, i.e., those that are infinite and imbued with spirit, meaning, and wonder.

Quantum reality is linked to consciousness and the interconnectedness of all creation.

The narrow bandwidth of human perception limits human understanding, ignoring the vastness of what we cannot see, hear, or perceive. A holistic understanding of reality could transcend the limits of reductionism and allow us to reclaim the meaning at the heart of creation.

Improvements in our understanding of quantum physics could lead to new images of God; the nature of quantum phenomena requires the use of images similar to those used in many mystical and religious traditions, particularly Eastern ones.

By following an unconfined approach, we could consider various scientific and theological interpretations to describe the concept of God through the filter of quantum science and metaphysics.

The quantum wave function is responsible for the non-local features of quantum physics, which are difficult to understand and cannot be explained within the deterministic paradigm of classical physics; non-locality is linked to an indivisibility and a unity that seem to be an inevitable part of reality.

This is related to the question of quantum mysticism and the Christian implications and parallels of a “quantum God”, as well as in-depth studies into the properties of vacuums and energy.

We request that, prior to submitting a manuscript, interested authors initially submit a proposed title and an abstract of 200–300 words summarizing their intended contribution. Please send it to the Guest Editor or to the Assistant Editor of Religions. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Guest Editors for the purpose of ensuring a proper fit within the scope of this Special Issue. Full manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Religions is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
